Pittsburgh Labor Day Parade

Updated 8/19/2021

Due to rising COVID-19 cases, the Pittsburgh Labor Day Parade has been cancelled. In lieu of the parade, the Allegheny/Fayette Central Labor Council will be hosting a weekend of service for union members in Western Pennsylvania.

To kick-off the Weekend of Service, the Labor Council is partnering with the Red Cross and the Pittsburgh Penguins to host a blood drive at PPG Arena on September 3rd.

Please check back for more information in the coming days.

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

I hope this finds you and your family well and in good health. I am happy to share the news that the Allegheny County Labor Council will be holding the Pittsburgh Labor Day Parade on Monday September 6, 2021!

SEIU Local 668 will be participating once again in what has historically been the largest Labor Day Parade in the United States. The annual Labor Day Mass will be held at St. Benedict the Moor Church at 8 am.  You and your family are invited to march with SEIU 668.  We will be staging at the corner of Centre Avenue and Crawford Streets in the parking lot. Participants should be in the staging area at 9 am and the parade begins at 10 am. (There are a limited number of seats available to ride in the parade on the Trolley for those with mobility issues. See the flyer for more details). A boxed lunch will be provided at One Smithfield Street after the parade.

It is recommended that participants park in either a garage or legal street parking downtown and walk up to the staging area.  The streets are blocked off and traffic is restricted in the staging area.  The surface lots are all used for participants to stage in.  In the morning coffee, juice and donuts are served, and a light box lunch will be provided after. In addition we will be handing out Union T-shirts. Because of this we ask all members to RSVP.

RSVP HERE VIA THE ONLINE FORM,  no later than August 20, 2021.

or contact RaChelle at (412) 201-4407.

The theme this year is; Respect Us, Protect Us, Pay Us! These words have never been more true.  Our members in the 24/7 shops and other essential departments have worked continuously throughout the pandemic to protect and serve the public. Labor Day is a special day to recognize the contributions of all workers and I look forward to seeing you at the parade!

In Solidarity,
