(HARRISBURG) Today, workers at the Dauphin County Library System have voted to join together and form a union with SEIU Local 668. Library workers serve residents at eight locations across Dauphin County and help members of the community access essential services and resources.
Public libraries are vital community spaces that bring people together, and these workers facilitate a culture of learning and support across the county. Workers at the County Library system love their work and were inspired to join a union to raise wages and ensure that these jobs become family-sustaining careers. SEIU Local 668 is proud to welcome them to our union family.
“My colleagues and I have been holding conversations and listening to the challenges many of our co-workers face. We love our work at the Library and in the community. We’ve chosen to come together to make these jobs better for everyone,” stated Anne Doucette, a Public Services Assistant at the East Shore Area Library.
“We’re beyond excited to welcome the workers at Dauphin County Library System to SEIU Local 668. The Dauphin County Library is a vital resource and source of support to the community. As a member of the library myself, I’m beyond excited to welcome its staff to our union family,” replied Steve Catanese, SEIU Local 668 President.
