Good afternoon–
In order to best represent our Commonwealth members in my capacity as a union-appointed trustee of the Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund (PEBTF), we will be collecting information directly from our members through a survey to inform our advocacy at the PEBTF. This is in order to get as accurate of a picture as possible across all areas of the Commonwealth in regards to members' experience accessing and utilizing their healthcare benefits so, in my capacity as a trustee, I may relay your feedback to the best of my ability.
If you are member who utilizes PEBTF for your healthcare coverage, we ask that you please take a few minutes to complete this survey: https://bit.ly/SEIU668PEBTF
The information we collect will help us identify coverage issues and provide information to the board. This survey will ask members to provide their name and the county they live in so we can determine where concerns are occurring geographically. We are asking that folks please respond regardless of whether your experience is positive or negative – this will help provide the best possible data to analyze in terms of your healthcare experience.
Separately – if you have a specific, ongoing issue with your PEBTF healthcare and are comfortable sharing identifying and/or medical information with us, please contact us through PEBTF@seiu668.org and outline the concern.
As a reminder, the PEBTF Board of Trustees comprises both Commonwealth management and elected union leaders–we hold one of the 18 votes on the board, split evenly between union and management. Our State Contract and Memorandum of Understanding outline how much our members pay for their health benefits – benefit composition is not directly a part of bargaining. Once the amount of money negotiated that goes into the fund is finalized, this leads to the fund and trustees implementing the best-possible benefit packages for state workers based on available funding.
This is a rare case for our members statewide where we have a seat and a voice in the benefit composition process. Your voice and input is vital in us utilizing our seat to the best of our ability for our members. Thank you for your participation to aid this process.
In Solidarity—
Steve Catanese, President SEIU Local 668
